Escape 41
Located right behind the Zongshan University, Escape 41 is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and is great for sunset lovers. It is a brilliant place for spending a romantic evening and the huge terrace just completes the ambiance par excellence. Though the place offers decent food, some feel that it is tad overpriced, but the ambience covers up for it to a great extent.

General Pancho's
A Mexican restaurant by birth, General Pancho's offers the best Mexican cuisine in Kaohsiung. The food is decently priced and the place is located near the ZuoYing HSR- making it a reasonably accessible restaurant. To be precise, you can get authentic Mexican dishes like taquitos, burritos and tacos here.

Liouho Night Market
If you are looking to pick up food at dirt cheap rates, there is no better place than one of the numerous night markets in Kaohsiung. One of the most popular night markets in Kaohsiung- known for its amazing food- is the Liouho Night Market. Mama Mia
Nothing exceptional about this place in particular but the food and the ambiance are good. Dishes are reasonably priced and the place gets a decent volume of locals, making it a good people-meeting venue.

Smokey Joe's
One of the most popular addresses of Kaohsiung, Smokey Joe’s is known for its great and affordable food. The menu is interesting and the staff well versed in English. The place is known for its very good and reasonably priced tortillas, fajitas and other western staple foods. An ideal meal is modestly priced considering the overall pricing in Kaohsiung and Taiwan. There are a number of schemes on offer here. From VIP cards to discount offers on bills upwards of $1000 NT and a lot of goodies that one can take away. Smokey Joe’s is near the city centre.
The Pantheon
Known to serve the best Gyro Lunch in the whole of Taiwan, The Pantheon is also one of the very few restaurants in Taiwan and especially in Kaohsiung that serves lamb dishes. So, if you are a lamb enthusiast or are just looking to lay your hands on some authentic and well-made Greek cuisine, the Pantheon is just the place for you. Pantheon offers a 20% discount on takeaway food, due to the fact that the restaurant is full most of the time and the seating capacity is limited.
The Spice Shop
If you are one of those people who like to splash out on an ideal dinner, then The Spice Shop is just the place for you. It is an Indian restaurant and each dish will cost you about $150 NT to $300 NT. The ambiance is warm and if you are a fan of the typical Indian cuisine this is the place for you. Be informed that the cuisine is extremely spicy, therefore not suited for those who do not go in for fiery food.
