Tainan Hotels and Travel Guide
Tainan Travel Information
Tainan is located in the southern portion of Taiwan and is a great place to live and visit. It is one of the ancient cities in Taiwan. The Taiwan Strait faces the city to the south and the west. Tainan has been named as the ‘City of the Phoenix’ because of its continuous history of comebacks, and redefinitions. However, in the olden days Tainan was known as Tayouan, which is considered to be the origin of the name Taiwan.
It is regarded as the cultural capital of Taiwan because of its ancient Confucian school/temple, built in the 1665. The city also houses several other historical structures along with the remains of the Southern and Eastern gates. Tainan is also known for its night markets and local snack food. The dan dan noodles, oysters and thin noodles, oyster omelettes, elite cakes, and Tainan’s ‘coffin’ toast, are some of the food items that you will remember forever.
Tainan has a little of the traditional mixed in with modern amenities and so it is with its accommodation choices as well. Expect to find five-star hotels here alongside more rustic options; a mish-mash of the new and old in a heady mixture that is both fascinating and unique in Taiwan. Read More...
